MONDAY GROUP

When We Meet: PAHG meets on Mondays from 9:45am - 2:00pm at the Friends Meeting House in Putney, VT. We more-or-less follow the same schedule as local schools, not meeting in the summer or during school vacations and holidays.

Snow Days or cancellations: If Brattleboro or Putney Schools are cancelled due to weather, so is the PAHG Monday Program. If the schools have not cancelled, and the weather is questionable, PAHG's weather coordinator will decide if we are going to meet. An email will be sent out via the PAHG Listserv.

Classes: At our annual meeting (during summer break) ideas for classes are discussed, but you can offer a class or suggest a class at any time. A class can be a few weeks, a few months, or all year. A parent or guardian can teach the class, or hire an outside teacher to come in and teach a class. A class can be academic, artistic, or fun. We have outdoor activities too. Most classes offered are free, but some have a fee.

Community Meeting: We hold a parent planning meeting once a month. Everyone is invited to attend. PAHG is run by the group, and everyone has a voice. If there is an issue that needs to be discussed, we put it on the agenda, and it is discussed at the next meeting.

Parent Support Group: A meeting is scheduled once a month for parents to discuss personal homeschooling issues, parenting challenges, and share ideas.

Community Circle: The group usually gathers a few minutes every Monday for Community Circle. Parents volunteer to facilitate the circle each week, with a short activity, game, and/or song with the whole group.

HOOT: Once a month we have a HOOT! A HOOT is like a talent show. Everyone, adults, young adults, and children are all welcome to perform. It can be poetry reading, singing, playing an instrument, telling a joke, or anything you can dream up. We can also set up a table if you have artwork, or something else to show the group.

Payment: For new families, your first visit is free. Each family contributes $5 per week to assist with space rental, or $50 for each "semester." We want our program to be accessible to all, so alternative payment plans are possible. Optional, individual classes may require additional fees for supplies/instruction.
